It seems like nutrition and flavor are always at odds with each other, but they don’t have to be. There are plenty of foods that are as nutrient rich as flavorful Here is a list of healthy, nutritious food and how best to enjoy them!

Avocados

Avocados are rich in vitamin E, vitamin k, vitamin c, magnesium and potassium. These nutrients help oxygenate your blood and rejuvenate your body on a cellular level. Additionally, avocados contain a high amount of unsaturated fat which makes them rather filling. Avocados can be made into filling guacamole or eaten with eggs and toast. If you have a sweet tooth, however, avocados can be mashed and mixed with cocoa powder, honey, and a pinch of salt to make a very simple and decadent chocolate mousse.

Blueberries

Blueberries are an excellent source of antioxidants, manganese and vitamin C, K & A, which makes them an incredible superfood. Also, blueberries can be put on any whole grain such as oatmeal and instantly elevate the flavor. Blueberries may be enjoyed on their own or with a dollop of whipped cream. If you want to be adventurous, toss a few blueberries in your salad with some feta cheese and you will be amazed with the results!

Garlic

Not only does garlic keep away vampires, but it also is shown to be a natural antibiotic. To top it off, garlic goes well with anything. Mince garlic in your marinades, roast garlic and make a spread, or sauté if with some vegetables or chicken. Garlic instantly heightens the flavor profile of any dish and adds an earthy flavor to it. There really is no such thing as too much garlic. However, make sure to have a few breath mints after enjoying your meal.

Fish

Salmon, tuna and other types of fish are a great source of Omega-3 fatty acids and DHA. These nutrients promote brain function and prevent inflammation. Moreover, fish can be fried, grilled, sauteed or enjoyed on top of a nice sushi roll. Because fish is a lean meat, it can be enjoyed with little to no guilt!

Chia Seeds

Chia seeds are packed with fiber, protein, phenolic acid, and several important vitamins as well as a hefty dose of protein. Furthermore, chia seeds can be enjoyed on top of almost any dish. Add a bit of crunch to your morning yogurt or some texture to your smoothie. Additionally, chia seeds work as a low carbohydrate substitute for breadcrumbs in meatballs and meatloaf.
